ITEM 1: 1888 John L. Sullivan Silk Stevengraph. This amazing piece of vintage boxing memorabilia comes in the form of a very rare and beautiful, early 1888 Stevengraph. This woven silk image of the great, American World’s Heavyweight Boxing Champion John L. Sullivan remains in gorgeous condition.
John Lawrence Sullivan, often called the "Boston Strong Boy," was an extraordinarily popular figure in the late nineteenth century and a genuine boxing immortal. He was the link between bare knuckles and glove fighting, and the first great American sports idol. In an age when professional bare-knuckled bouts often dragged on for 50-plus rounds, few of John L Sullivan's fights lasted more than a couple. From 1877 to the turn of the century, Sullivan literally knocked out hundreds of capable men and was the undisputed Champion of the World. He was a broad-chested bull - powerful and quick, destroying opponents with either hand, and taking punishment like no other. Many experts still consider him the best heavyweight ever. The Portrait offered here pictures Sullivan at the height of his popularity if not the height of his prowess - still, it would take a very brave man to enter the ring against this heavily muscled pugilist. Additionally, Sullivan is known as the first heavyweight champion of gloved boxing and is generally recognized as the last heavyweight champion, under London Prize Ring rules, of bare knuckle boxing.

It is a high quality example which is clearly identified with a bold Ken-Wel logo as model 123. It will make a wonderful addition to any vintage boxing collection. ITEM 4: These are two of the Rittgers figures from a 3 piece boxing set. The missing figure is of a boxer throwing a straight punch which actually hits the referee instead of the ducking boxer. The Rittgers company produced many different sports sets in this chalkware or plaster composition. Other sports sets include baseball, football, basketball and several of the minor sports as well. In this particular set, the “ducking boxer” is in EX-MT condition and the “referee getting hit” remains NEAR MINT. Price for both $125 |

ITEM 5: 1900-10 Narragansett Machine Company brand Indian Clubs. This is a fine pair of vintage indian clubs made by the Narragansett Machine Company. Sometimes referred to as exercise pins, these wooden weights were used by boxers and other athletes, to sculpt their fine physiques back in the early 1900's. This pair is decorated with a colorful decal of the company logo on each club. The condition of the pair is excellent. ITEM 6: The offered vintage boxing speed bag was made by Hutch and dates from the 1920-30’s. This is a great looking, high quality, vintage boxing speed bag. The two-tone dark brown and tan leather makes for AWESOME aesthetic appeal! This would have been a very expensive item when it was sold. It was produced by the Hutch Sporting Goods Company. ITEM 7: 1910’s D&M White Leather Boxing Gloves. These high quality boxing gloves were the top-of-the-line model produced by the Draper and Maynard Sporting Goods Company during this era. They are positively gorgeous with the "Lucky Dog" logo and model 040 beautifully stamped onto each glove, as well each glove has a perfect D&M cloth patch sewn into on the inside of the cuff. They are the finest pair of vintage boxing gloves that we have ever owned! The condition is phenomenal with the leather as soft and supple as the day they were made and the original laces remain intact with each glove.
