1920's D&M Tennis Ball Can

ITEM 2: Here we are offering a very scarce, vintage tennis ball container made by the Draper and Maynard Sporting Goods Company. D&M was a leading sporting goods producer during this time, located in Plymouth, New Hampshire. This is only the 3rd D&M tennis ball container that we have encountered. This style of can is known as a "tear-top" model, which is an example of the earliest design. It's called a "tear-top" because when the key was used to open the can it tore or sliced right through the metal leaving a dangerously sharp edge around the top of the can. There was no lid, the portion that came off when opened was to be discarded. This poor design did not last long which adds to the rarity of this can. A rare tennis collectible that will be a fine addition to any vintage sports collection. Price $300

1920's Vinnie Richards Tear-Top Tennis Ball Can - Dunlop

ITEM 12: This 1920's Vintage Vinnie Richards Dunlop Championship Tennis Ball Can is a fabulous early tennis can. It is a "tear-top" model which is an example of the earliest design. Called a "tear-top" because when the key was used to open the can it tore or sliced right through the metal leaving a dangerously sharp edge around the top of the can. There was no lid, the portion that came off when opened was to be discarded. This poor design did not last long which explains the rarity of this can. Another point of intrigue is the endorsement by Vinnie Richards. Very few tennis balls were endorsed by players and this is among the earliest... it is practically a piece of advertising! This can is opened and remains in excellent condition! Price $250

Factory Dated 1931 Rawlings Seamless Tennis Ball - Very Rare

ITEM 13: Offered for your consideration is the above pictured 1931 Rawlings Tennis Ball. As shown this fine vintage tennis ball is dated from the factory with the year of 1931. We have encountered very few dated tennis balls over the last 23 years, they are to be considered extremely rare. Understandably so, considering that with very minimal use those markings would become illegible or nonexistent. Additionally, this uncommon antique tennis collectible features patent dates from the years of 1915, 1925 and 1926. I believe it is the 1915 date that recognizes this as a seamless ball, which is another appealing characteristic of this ball. A very unique lawn tennis ball that remains in exceptional, NR-MT condition. Price $450

Early 1940’s Spalding Tennis Balls in Original Packaging – Bag

ITEM 14: Here we are offering an extremely scarce item, Early 1940’s Spalding Tennis Balls in the Original Packaging. Made by the A.G. Spalding and Bros. Sporting Goods Company, these rare vintage tennis balls were packed using paper bags instead of the typical metal tennis can. As a result, of conserving metal for the War effort, cardboard containers were substituted for the usual metal tennis can. Some were even made of just a paper bag. This fine example is an unopened bag of the USLTA vintage tennis balls. The condition is NR-MT with note to the partial tear as shown above. An incredibly rare item to add to your antique tennis collection! Price $300
