1888-1900 Wright & Ditson “Sears” Model Tennis Racket

ITEM 1: 1888-1900 Wright & Ditson “Sears” Model Tennis Racket. This fine antique tennis racket is endorsed by Richard Sears the legendary United States Singles Lawn Tennis Champion from 1881 to 1887. His name is stamped into the wood frame towards the top of the racket head. While, Wright and Ditson - Boston is stamped into the throat. It is a very high quality racket which remains in superb condition. Also, it features a wonderful sterling silver owner’s plate on the back of the throat! A unique addition to any vintage tennis memorabilia collection! Price $300





1923 Tennis Trophy Loving Cup

ITEM 2: This is an exceptional vintage tennis trophy dated 1923. A gorgeous silver loving cup tennis trophy highlighted by an ornate embossing of two crossed tennis rackets. The trophy is a very impressive twelve inches tall and in addition to the crossed rackets features a floral wreath adornment around the top opening. Additionally, the backside of the trophy reads: The John H Meahl Trophy - Buffalo Municipal Tennis Championship - DOUBLES - Won by Max Bookbinder - Louis Scheafer - July 27, 1923. The silver plate remains in amazingly fine condition as it is basically flawless! It is a very high quality trophy that was produced by the Wallace Brothers Silver Company. Condition is solid near-mint! Price $300

ITEM 7: Early 1940’s Tennis Balls in Original Packaging – Bag. The offered antique tennis item is rarely found in this form. Tennis balls were typically packaged in metal cans. It was during World War II that a ration on metal required them to be contained in paper rather than metal. Because paper is much more fragile than metal, very few have survived.
