1910 - 1911 Cornell Football B33 Blanket
Presented here is a scarce 1910–1911 Cornell Football “B33” Tobacco Premium Blanket, a striking and highly collectible artifact from the earliest days of college football merchandising. Issued as part of the famed B33 “College Series” by tobacco companies between 1910 and 1911, these small felt blankets were included as premiums in cigarette packs — and today, they stand as colorful and cherished relics of turn-of-the-century athletic glory.
This particular example features Cornell University, proudly displaying the school’s iconic deep red and bold white felt body with a Cornell pennant at the top. At the center is a wonderfully detailed image of a Cornell football player, decked out in full early football attire — including quilted pants, lace-up jacket with and leather sewn-on shoulder pads and a noseguard. The vivid color is sharp and vibrant, with superb retention of detail for a textile over a century old.
Measuring approximately 5” x 7”, this miniature blanket remains in NR-MT overall condition. These B33 tobacco flannels were issued in very limited numbers and were often handled roughly or discarded, making high-grade survivors particularly difficult to find — especially from storied Ivy League programs like Cornell.
A beautiful piece, this 1910–1911 Cornell Football B33 blanket is an outstanding representation of early football and tobacco-era Americana. It would make a solid addition to any advanced collection of early collegiate or sports premium memorabilia. Please call directly with any questions or concerns.
