Patented 1932 Pennsylvania Tear-Top Antique Tennis Ball Can Unopened
Offered here is a rare and remarkable 1932 Pennsylvania Tear-Top Tennis Ball Can, an exceptional example of early 20th-century sporting goods packaging. This unopened can is a rare survivor, preserving both the contents and the original period graphics exactly as they appeared nearly a century ago.
The can features the tear-top design, an innovative solution of the era that allowed players to access the balls easily while keeping them protected and pressurized. However, when the can was opened it left a very sharp edge around the entire top of the can. Recognizing this safety concern, the tear-top style can was only used for a short period of time. Making this unopened example an extreme rarity.
Condition is superb, with the can fully intact, the top unbroken, and the original contents presumably untouched. The patina of the metal and the clarity of the printed label reflect careful preservation over the decades, making this a rare opportunity for collectors of antique sporting goods or vintage tennis history.
This can is to be considered a rare and historically significant relic, combining early American lawn tennis innovation, graphic appeal, and collectible scarcity.
