Product Details

Presented here is a handsome 1920–30’s Rawlings Leather Football Helmet, a wonderful example of early gridiron craftsmanship featuring an attractive two-tone leather design. Produced during an era when football equipment was evolving from rudimentary protection into refined athletic gear, this helmet perfectly captures the spirit and toughness of the game’s formative years.

Constructed of high-grade leather, the helmet exhibits classic multi-panel construction with reinforced stitching and a very unusual innovation of 18 air holes on the lower of the reverse! The contrasting dark and light brown leather panels create a visually appealing two-tone appearance, a style prized by collectors for its aesthetic charm and historical significance. The surface retains excellent texture and a rich patina, testifying to both age and quality.

Located front and center is the Rawlings trademark logo, a respected name synonymous with top-tier sporting goods throughout the early 20th century. Condition is excellent, showing only light use and no significant flaws — truly remarkable for a helmet now nearly a century old.

A fine and highly displayable example of an early leather football helmet, this two-tone Rawlings model beautifully reflects the rugged elegance of 1920’s and 1930’s gridiron gear. A standout addition to any antique football or vintage sports collection.
