Product Details

Presented here is a superb 1910–1920’s Lund “CHALLENGER” One-Piece Hockey Stick, a wonderful survivor from the rugged, early days of ice hockey. This finely crafted stick is a classic example of the solid one-piece construction favored by serious players of the era, long before the advent of laminated blades and composite shafts.

Fashioned from a single select hardwood billet, the stick exhibits beautiful early shaping, with a gently curved blade and long, slender handle typical of pre-war designs. The “LUND CHALLENGER” brand marking is boldly stamped into the shaft in large block letters, still clear and well defined after more than a century. The finish retains a rich, natural patina, showing only light surface wear consistent with age and careful use.

This early Lund example speaks to the company’s dedication to quality and precision, producing sticks that were both durable and well-balanced — a necessity in the fast and physical play of early organized hockey.

Condition is excellent, the wood remaining strong, clean, and completely original, with no cracks or repairs. The overall form and markings make this a striking display piece, perfectly representing the sport’s earliest era.

A true gem for the advanced collector of early hockey equipment, this 1910–1920’s Lund “CHALLENGER” One-Piece Stick stands as a tangible link to the game’s formative years — a beautifully preserved artifact from hockey’s rugged and romantic past.
